However, the ecosystem has been compromised due to developments, and it is under threat due to climate change. Many areas of the forest were burned down to build roads, and trees have been chopped for more production.

You do what the Boss says

Many people are employed to work in the forest, and their jobs usually require construction work. The job isn’t easy, and they must work in harsh conditions to feed their families. They also do not have any say, and once they’re told to do something, they have to do it. The forest environment is not the most suitable place to work, and there are many dangers.

The employees are under a lot of pressure and have to keep up with a demanding boss who can fire them anytime. While many people think that putting stress on the employees would lead to more productive work, this pressure can backfire later.

They Have a Visitor

The Amazon is home to many different animals, and one such animal found its way to the construction site. The workers were busy and tired from working all day when suddenly they found something that changed the day altogether. The snake was found by one worker who panicked at the sight of the creature.

He was about to step on it, and his reaction confused the others until they saw the creature on the ground. You are bound to encounter these things in the forest, but the experience is still scary. Usually, animals avoid humans but not this big guy.

Can not be Ignored

Of course, sometimes work does get disturbed. After all, it wasn’t just a snake that got in their way. A small snake could be ignored, but a giant anaconda could send shivers down anyone’s spine. The animal found its way to where the workers were, and everyone could see it.

The animal’s presence disturbed work. Though this wasn’t anything unusual in the Amazon, it was normal for the crew to be petrified by the creature. The WWF states that several snake species have made the rainforest their home, including the green anaconda and the rainbow boa, to name a few.

They Don’t Want to Be Disturbed

Anacondas can be dangerous, and the best thing to do is let them be. They should not be disturbed, and that’s exactly what the workers aimed for. They cleared the path for it and let it go its own way. The creature is not venomous, but it can coil its body around its victim and squeeze them.

We’re sure none of the workers wanted to end up in an anaconda that day and tried to let it go on its own path. After all, anacondas can pretty much swallow any animal and are known to feed on deer, pigs, birds, reptiles, and even jaguars.

They had to make a decision, and it wasn’t an easy one. Could they go to the vet, or should the vet come to them? It was not easy for the vet to come to them as she probably wouldn’t be aware of the routes. Getting to the Amazon was not easy, and it was rush hour in the city.

There’s no equipment in the forest, and what if she ran out of medicine during the procedure? It wasn’t a simple operation in the least. It was a complicated procedure and needed time, patience, and expertise. Time is what they didn’t have.

Carrying The Snake to The Clinic

They weren’t sure how to treat the creature, and their best bet would be to take the snake to the vet. The only problem was how were they going to carry it? The animal had to be treated in a proper medical facility but transporting it to the city was no easy task.

They were tired after a long day of work and didn’t have the energy to look after the animal, let alone carry it. The day was ending, and it was starting to get dark. They were also feeling pity for the poor creature and wanted to do their best to help.

Time for Management

Eventually, the manager stepped in and did what managers do best. He took over the situation to find a solution. The crew was worried about the animal, but the manager suggested that the vet come over to their location, and he called her up.

Then the manager would be taken to the construction site where the snake would be. It would not be possible to move the snake easily as they do not react very well to new territory. This would then turn out to be a dicey position as the vet would find it difficult to operate on it.

The vet was aware that moving the anaconda would cause it more stress than it already was in. The snake was already suffering, and the journey ahead is not easy due to the rough terrain of the Amazon. The manager told the vet that they have to be doubly careful to carry the snake in a delicate way.

The road ahead was bumpy at best. The vehicle they chose to ride was the exec’s 4×4 vehicle which is good enough for the rough roads of the forest. They get stuck in the mud, and advanced driving isn’t something everyone can do. A skilled driver is required.

Is The Journey Worth Making the Effort

The vet wondered if the journey was worth it. It was a risky operation and she wasn’t sure if the snake could be saved. She traveled for two hours through the traffic to reach the construction site. She wondered if the sacrifices she was making were even worth the effort. It pretty much took a large chunk of her day.

However, when she saw the snake in pain, she understood that it was in fact, worth it. She set down to work to ensure that all went well, but would it be eventually okay for the snake? She, along with the workers, could only hope.

The Problem Has Just Begun

It seemed like the problems for the snake and workers just didn’t want to end. When the vet arrived, the anaconda started moving. The animal was steady for hours but now it was moving and strong enough to slither away into the forest. Perhaps, even strong enough to harm one of the humans. It was rested up and recharged.

According to research, anacondas can take good rest in tree branches right near the riverbanks and slither away into the water whenever they want to. They are pretty good swimmers too and can swim underwater with ease. They are better at catching their prey in water.

What to do Now?

A lot of the day had passed and they still had a lot of work left to do. Their boss was quite demanding and they didn’t want to lose their jobs. The workers now had to decide what they had to do. Many wanted to go back to work but most wanted to tend to the snake.

The first thing they needed to do was stop the snake from slithering so the vet could operate on it. Would the workers be able to stop the snake from moving too much? At that time, moving was detrimental to the health of the snake.

Creativity Can Take You Far

They needed to figure out a way to contain the snake. It was strong, and holding it in one place required more than human resources. They obviously couldn’t grab it and needed to find another solution. They went into their materials and found metal sheets. One worker suggested using the metal sheets as barricades.

However, there weren’t enough of them, and they couldn’t create a fence. They hatched a plan of holding the barriers standing next to one another so that the snake couldn’t wriggle out. This turned out to be one fool-proof way of tending to the snake and protecting them from it too.

Teamwork is Everything

Teamwork is essential, and we’re sure the workers were reminded of that. If they didn’t finish the tasks together, there would have been no way they could’ve saved the anaconda. They had to contain the animal as it was huge, and they needed to ensure their safety.

Creating a fence was a slow task and although they were exhausted, they were determined to move on till they accomplished the task. The good thing about the entire mission was their teamwork. Not only did they brainstorm this idea together, but they also worked despite being tired, and it was only possible because of teamwork.

The creature was getting aggressive as it felt threatened at the sight of many men surrounding it. It didn’t want to be caged, and since the poor animal was already in pain, the only thing it could do was attack the vet and the workers. They were determined to make sure it was safe but the creature didn’t understand what was happening in that instance.

Most reptiles, especially anacondas are very careful as they want to avoid humans. So, unless provoked, they won’t attack humans. The workers had shown resilience in protecting the anaconda, but would they continue to do so at its onslaught?

The vet finally got a hold of the snake and sedated it. It finally calmed down and slept. It was no longer moving aggressively and the operation could begin. Sedating animals like snakes comes with its risks and that is why the vet was hesitant. They need to be kept at a specific temperature so as not to risk their lives

Animals like snakes do not produce their own heat and require external factors. However, the nurse didn’t have time to check all the parameters. In some cases such as boa constrictors, their body temperature should be around 82 degrees Fahrenheit. These creatures are called ectothermic.

Finally Some Rest

The surgery had begun and the snake had dozed off. The workers had a very long day and not only were they working on the construction site but they also had to attend to the snake. They were so spent with the hard work that they finally decided to drop everything and slump to the ground.

They finally felt like it was all over. It is not easy to manage such a laborious job, and workers need to sneak in some rest. Today, it felt particularly rewarding. Relaxation helps them to recover from hard work and find enough energy to work the next day.

Up Close And Personal With The Snake

They were tired but they were also curious and when the vet started to prod around its belly to see what had to be done, they got up and started to watch. They wanted to know what was going on. Some guessed a big fish, while others even guessed a calf. It’s not too insane as there are some cases of calves being swallowed whole by large snakes, like in Indonesia in 2021. The truth is indeed stranger than fiction.

The vet was skilled and made an incision where the bulge was. Her hand was steady, and it’s clear that a surgeon needs proper eye-hand coordination while carrying out the operation. She carefully peeled off the scales, skin, and flesh to discover the problem.

She found a bright-colored object in the stomach but wasn’t sure what it was. Upon closer inspection, she was left shocked, as were the workers. She still wasn’t able to figure out what it was but the workers had an idea. Were they right, or were they wrong? Everyone just couldn’t wait to find out what it was.

It was a Coolbox!

They found out that it was a coolbox! It was incredibly shocking and they would’ve never suspected that the animal swallowed this plastic thing. It belonged to the workers at the construction site so they could store their drinks and keep them cool. How did this large container end up in the stomach of an animal?

The vet was incredibly shocked. This is an excellent example of why we need to stop intruding into animals’ space. The bright color of the box and the appealing smell of its contents must have attracted the snake and it couldn’t resist swallowing the whole thing.

The Secret of the Missing Cooler

The employees instantly recognized the cooler as one had gone missing a few days before. Now they know where it went! Of course, we’re not sure if they’re going to be using it given the fact that it just came out the stomach of an animal!

There was meat in the cooler that had gone bad and they left the cooler unattended outside their tent due to the smell. The animal probably got a whiff of the meat and decided to consume the bright colored box. The workers felt very guilty about their negligence that almost took the life of such a majestic creature.

The Aura of an Anaconda

Snakes are majestic creatures despite the fact that they scare humans. Their mouths can stretch wide open to take in the prey thanks to the muscles and ligaments present in their mouth. When it comes to the majestic anaconda, they can easily swallow big creatures.

Anacondas hail from South America, and it may sometimes take these magnificent creatures weeks to digest a big animal, but they definitely cannot digest a coolbox. That has been tested now. No wonder the anaconda was in so much pain trying to digest. Forget weeks, the anaconda would never be able to digest the cool box.

The Microchip to Track the Reptile

The vet was finally able to remove the coolbox and stitch up the animal. The surgery was now complete, but the animal needed time to heal, and the vet had to make sure she didn’t get herself into any trouble again. This is why a microchip was inserted into the animal’s skin to track its movement.

The animal needed to heal, and this would allow the humans to keep an eye on its progress. Microchipping is a modern way of tracking animals and finding out whether they are in the best state of health. The size of the chip depends on the size of the animal.

Post Surgery Recovery

It was time to check up on the anaconda. Usually, healing animals are kept in a cage and monitored, but that couldn’t be done with this snake as it was far too big for any cage. It was left in the rainforest and was kept track of thanks to the help of the microchip. Luckily, it was recovering well.

The bulge was gone and the workers were relieved the animal did not die due to their negligence. We bet the anaconda was feeling relieved, too, and we bet it is not going to swallow any bright and big object anytime soon.

The vet had a considerable role to play in all of this. If she had decided to stay back instead of taking the two hour trip to the rain forest, the animal would not have been able to survive. The doctor’s patience and hard work needs to be recognized. She did her job to the best of her abilities.

The workers also went out of their way and left their work to help the poor creature. They truly felt bad for it even though it looked scary and could attack them. They helped, and this is a great example of humanity and kindness.

Not All Stories Have Happy Endings

Not all stories end the same way, and some even end quite tragically. In 2016, in Brazil, workers stumbled upon a huge anaconda that was about 400 pounds. It was believed to have come out of an explosion in Altamira, Pará cave. The workers were criticized because they were not at all kind and ended up killing the animal instead of helping it.

Imagine entering a creature’s habitat and taking its space, and then killing it. Not all humans are kind, and stories of inhumanity are sadly what we usually hear more. It is pretty disheartening to see things like this happen.

Another Anaconda, Another Story

Here’s another anaconda story. An anaconda was rescued in 2021 in Brazil. An inspection patrol from the Environmental Military Police found the creature in time. It stomach was so full, and it was barely able to move. The animal was trapped among branches by the Iguatemi River, and someone captured the entire story on video.

This proves that anacondas are just like regular animals who don’t know what they’re putting into their stomachs. They scare humans but they need our help, too. We need to extend our aid whenever we can and we need to be kind and gentle to animals.
