Hyundai Genesis – Approximately $16K Loss

A Hyundai Genesis is among those vehicles that have a fast depreciation rate. The things most people like about it is the luxurious interior, high-tech general and safety features, and its smooth engine. It falls short when it comes to fuel economy because it only gets 26 mpg on highways and 18 mpg in the city.

If you just wait a year, you will be able to retain a lot of cash in your savings account because a 1-year old Hyundai Genesis becomes $16K cheaper. The original retail price suggested by its manufacturer is around $42-60K.

Nissan Leaf – Approximately $4.7K Loss

One of the most popular and trusted electric vehicles you can get your hands on is the Nissan Leaf. The starting MSRP of the vehicle is around $30K. It is estimated that in just one year, the value of the Leaf falls by 15.6%. That is at least $4.7K yearly.

Nissan Rogue SV – Approximately $9K Loss

The 2018 Nissan Rogue has a very disappointing depreciation rate because its retail price is estimated to have gone down by 31%. When it came out, your credit card needed to pay a $28K transaction to drive home a brand-new Rogue. But its current retail price is said to be at $19.2K already.

Sources online said that the 2017 model of the Leaf was the one with the best value. The 2016 and 2015 models came in second and third. The newest model, the 2019 version, hasn’t depreciated yet and its average retail price is estimated to be at $28.2K.

Mini Cooper – Approximately $3.3K Loss

After owning it for one year, it is estimated that the MSRP of the base model ($21.9K) would go down by about $3.3K. That’s when you assume it has an average rate of depreciation. The latest Mini models are known for having wireless phone charging and Apple CarPlay.

GMC Yukon – Approximately $7.7K Loss

It is estimated that the Yukon depreciates by 15.60% so the 2019’s $49.5K MSRP goes down to about $41.8K in just one year. The previous 2018 model of the car went down by $12.7K while the 2017 model just went down by $2.1K.

Chevrolet Express – Approximately $16.4K Loss

Autoblog also says that the estimated depreciation of the 2019 Express amounts to about $16.4K. Some may say it depreciates easily because they don’t really majorly change the design of the Express as the years go by.

Chevrolet Impala – Approximately $13.2K Loss

Volkswagen Beetle – Approximately $7K Loss

In 2018, the Volkswagen Beetle was being sold for about $25.6K. Sadly, it depreciated by about 27.71% in just one year and it’s currently being sold for about $18.8K. Those who bought the 2017 models got the best deal because it only had a 10.23% depreciation rate.

Lincoln MKS – Approximately $8.2K Loss

The Lincoln MKS is a luxury car that is known for having a lot of trunk space. It also gives those inside it a very comfortable ride. Those who bought the 2018 models spent around $38.5K for it but it had experienced a 20.51% depreciation rate. That’s about $8.2K less than its original MSRP.

Some of the materials used in the interior and the cabin space are apparently “disappointing.” Sources online said that the 2016 model of the Lincoln MKS had the best value. This was followed by the 2017 and 2015 models.

Kia Optima – Approximately $4.5K Loss

For those who are looking for a car with a lot of cargo storage and a stylish interior, then the Kia Optima is the right choice for you. Its standard retail price starts at $22K but high-end models can cost as much $32K.

The depreciation value of the Optima after its first year is estimated to be around $4.5K. Its estimated five-year cost to own it apparently reaches about $32.7K. The previous 2018 model of the Optima reportedly depreciated by $9.5K while the 2017 model, which was said to have had the best value, depreciated by $691.

Kia Cadenza – Approximately $5.2K Loss

The Kia Cadenza is a frontrunner when it comes to large vehicles. It reportedly has an overall score of 8.8 out of 10. The 2019 Cadenza starts at $33.1K and the high-end models can cost you as much as $44.1K of your paycheck.

After one year of owning your Cadenza, it is estimated that it will have a depreciation amounting to $5.2K. The Cadenza seems like a perfect choice for those moms and dads who want to still have a sleek ride will still being able to cater to the growing number of kids they have.

Chevrolet Camaro – Approximately $3.9K Loss

If you want to be turning heads on the road, then you should drive a Chevrolet Camaro. The 2019 Camaro can be yours for as low as $25K but the better models can go as high as $68K. The crisp handling and acceleration this luxury car has will definitely make you feel like the king of the road.

Some of the things that people might not like about the Camaro is the lack of head space for the convertibles, the small cargo room, and the low usability of the backseat. Base models of the Camaro get a depreciation of at least $3.9K while the high-end models can depreciate by as much as $10.6K.

Buick Regal – Approximately $3.9K Loss

The 2019 Buick Regal is an “okay” choice if you are looking for a mid-sized car. U.S. News & World Report ranked it #14 on the list of best mid-sized cars. The massive cargo hold and large seats are the things you will love about the Regal.

The standard retail price of the Regal’s base model is about $25K while you can expect to spend around $39K for the Regal GS. The deprecation rate of the base model is estimated to be at $3.9K. Sources say that the Regal’s infotainment system and fuel economy have yet to be majorly improved.

Mitsubishi Lancer – Approximately $4.6K Loss

The Mitsubishi Lancer was a vehicle that had been sold for decades but the manufacturer decided to discontinue it back in 2017. It is estimated that people spent around $19.6K when the latest model of the Lancer came out back in 2017 but these days, you can get a used one for about $15K.

Jaguar XK – Approximately $45K Loss

Those who have millions in the bank are the ones who get to sit behind the wheel of a Jaguar. The Jaguar XK was a lavish automobile that first hit the market back in 1996 but they discontinued it after the 2015 model.

Driving the XK was just amazing but it apparently had grabby brakes and a useless backseat. Lexus ES 350 – Approximately $6.2K Loss

You can never go wrong with a Lexus because all the vehicles they manufacture promise to make anyone riding or driving it to feel like they have such a lavish ride. The Lexus ES 350 has a totally new design in 2019 and the cheapest one you can get is priced at about $39.8K.

The interior and ride quality of the ES 350 definitely deserves praises and the only downside people might not like about it is the faulty interface of the infotainment system. Hyundai Sonata – Approximately $4.5K Loss
