Isn’t life on Earth strange? Sure it is! All our lives are intertwined in an endless network of causality. We all have our own aspirations and plans. One man’s misery is another man’s mystery. One person may desire something so badly that he spends his whole life looking for it, while someone else may be having that same thing in abundance or even getting rid of it. But, we rarely think outside of ourselves, about other people’s needs, hopes, and dreams. This is a story about a woman whose only dream was to be a parent and make her children happy and the journey through which she proved to be an inspiration to us all.

Katie Page

Katie, a Colorado resident and a woman in her thirties, was completely oblivious that she has the potential to change the hearts and minds of many people all over the world. However, Katie had already been through a lot in her life, especially in the past few years. However, as we are about to see first-hand, Katie was not a quitter and she was in no way someone who would give up on something she felt was worth pursuing. And, that thing for her was caring for someone and making them happy, no matter what. Katie wanted to have children, but she never dreamed of becoming a famous mother.

Reinventing Herself

Katie had already been through a lot in her early thirties. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama, but moved to Colorado about a decade ago. She is now a resident of Denver and in 2014, she found a job at a construction company called GE Johnson, based in Colorado Springs. She was an integrated services manager and her job was to oversee various building projects the company was involved in. But, Katie was still affected by the emotional emptiness that her divorce had brought her, which happened earlier that same year.

Rebuilding Her Life

Katie was on a path of soul searching and was rebuilding her life. In a blog she started after all this, she remembered this period in her life as dealing with a loss, and also as a new dawn and a new chance at life. She took a good, honest look at herself and knew that if she wanted to be happy about who she was, she needed to make the changes necessary and pursue whatever she felt deep down in her heart. In Katie’s own words, she said she felt God calling her to be who she was meant to be. And it was not something you could learn by reading a book!

Katie Made A Promise To Herself

In her later blog posts, Katie related one occasion during her soul searching when she was looking at the mirror and began crying at the woman she saw. She realized that she was not the woman she desired to be and it took courage to see herself in that way. But, the only way to be truly happy was to first admit she was not and to recognize what she wanted to change. And, Katie did just that. She made a commitment and promised herself she was going to live a life that would be fulfilling. She was going to be proud of herself and that was going to be her legacy.

Reaching The First Checkpoint

It was that decision that led Katie to get her job at GE Johnson Construction Company. Her next project on her list was buying a home. It was like giving herself a new space, a new oasis if you will. And that she did. Katie bought a fixer-upper that required a lot of work, but it was just what she needed. However, while finding a new job and purchasing a house was a good thing, it was a little bit underwhelming considering the goals Katie had set. She knew what she really wanted in her heart was to care for someone, to do that fundamental thing we were all put on this Earth for.

But, The Biggest Problem Was Still There

Putting her life back together and rebuilding herself, piece by piece, Page was now to face her greatest ambition. In her blog, Katie wrote about a desire she had had since childhood and recognized early on. And, not fulfilling it was probably what made her feel like her life wasn’t going anywhere. She had dreamed of having kids of her own since she was just a girl herself. But, that dream was crushed during her marriage, for she had struggled with infertility problems. But, literally two weeks after she moved into her new home, that dream was about to be reignited. She got an email invitation…

What Do You Do When Opportunity Knocks?

Katie was also an active member of her church, apparently, because the email she received was from her local pastor. While reading it, she felt the immediate pull towards the words her pastor wrote to her. Like manna from heaven, he was inviting Katie to a meeting to discuss foster care! Adoption or foster care had never occurred to Kate for she did not know anyone who was raised in a foster home or fostered children. Page later wrote how, even though she was oblivious at the notion, her heart drew her to find out more. And, she accepted the invitation.

Holding A Baby In Her Arms

Page decided to go and invited her mother, who was helping her with her home remodeling. Together, they went to the interview and the info they received, Page remembered, was an eye-opener. It scared Page, but it also touched her heart, as she later wrote, and she made her biggest life-changing decision right there and then. As fate would have it, on that year’s Mother’s Day, which was on May 10, 2015, she filled out an application form and fostered four kids throughout the next year.  However, when this boy in the photo came into her life, things changed again for Katie.

Taking It To The Next Level

Again, as it was her inclination at this point, Katie was listening to her gut feeling.  She had been contemplating an idea for some time now, and she was thinking long term. Once she recognized that this was the next step, she told her caseworker how she felt and that she wanted to provide a permanent home to a foster child. Shortly after, she was invited to come and see a particular baby boy, who was abandoned and ready to be adopted as this was the best option for him. The boy was only a few days old but had already been through a problematic situation.

Providing Protection & A Loving Home

It was unfortunate that the child was exposed to drugs – there was no better way of saying it. He came from a problematic home but oddly enough, he was not showing any signs of withdrawal, like tremors, sleep problems, seizures, or other complications. The boy was available to be discharged immediately if a suitable home was found for him. And, Page did exactly that. The very next day, Page brought the boy home and welcomed him as a family member. But, Katie needed to do something very important as well.

Welcome To The Family, Grayson

This new family member had no name. When Katie would talk about it, often through tears, she would relate how the boy deserved to have a name and everything a mother should give him. When he was left at the foster home, he was left without a name so the nurses just called him ‘baby boy.’ Katie immediately began searching for names and chose Grayson. Now that Grayson was all settled in, Page also asked her mother to stay with them, because she was still fostering the previous child, as their arrangement hadn’t ended.

You read that right – Katie just jumped into it with no fear whatsoever if she would be able to handle it. She now had not one but two kids in her home, who were at that point a fourteen-month-old and a newborn. After the other child’s time with Katie had come to an end, she dedicated herself to Grayson entirely. However, Katie also later admitted that despite all her enthusiasm and the help from her mother, those next few months proved to be very challenging. Despite all that, Page endured and also began a search for Grayson’s biological parents.

Grayson’s Mysterious Past

However, the search for Grayson’s biological parents proved to be almost impossible. Not only was Grayson left without his name, but the info left by the person who brought him in did not actually lead to anyone. Page later recalled how she posted ads in the newspapers but no one answered and no one came to the foster home to ask about the boy’s fate. This led to Katie having mixed emotions and thoughts about the whole thing. Sure, she was glad that Grayson was to be hers. But, she also dreaded the idea that one day, Grayson would grow up and she’d have to tell him that nobody came looking for him.

Their Big Day

While Katie and Grayson were enjoying their time, they were also working hard on their next objectives. Grayson was nearing his first birthday and he was approximately eleven months old when the big day for both of them arrived. In May 2017, Grayson’s adoption came through and he was now officially and legally Katie’s son. Katie decided at that point that she’d no longer take other foster children and dedicate herself entirely to Grayson. Grayson needed attention in dealing with challenges left by his exposure to harmful substances in his mother’s womb. But, Katie’s plans were about to change, after she received another call from her caseworker.

Room For One More, Guys?

The call from the caseworker again intrigued Katie, same as the one she got when she was invited to come and see Grayson for the first time. The nurse was actually asking about how the two were getting along and began talking about a recent case she had. It was about a four-day-old baby girl who also had come from an environment where she was exposed to illegal substances. The story shared several similarities to Grayson’s. The girl was urgently in need of a home, and Katie again felt the chills. She had reservations, but she felt something was different about this girl. A few days later, Katie welcomed her into her home, too.

Enter Hannah

The girl was also without a name like Grayson was, so Katie named her Hannah. But, there was something strange about it all, as Katie would recall. Upon examining Hannah’s medical records, Hannah’s and Grayson’s origins were so aligned! Her exposure to substances while in her biological mother’s womb was at the exact same level as Grayson’s was. Hannah’s bracelet from the hospital revealed yet another similarity. The first name of both Grayson’s and Hannah’s mother was the same. It could be coincidence, but Katie continued to investigate further and found that the dates of birth left for Grayson’s and Hannah’s biological moms were just one day apart.

Hannah’s Past Also Shrouded In Mystery

At this point, Katie had hired a woman to assist her in balancing work and taking care of her two kids and shared the new-found information with her. They both agreed that the similarities between Grayson and Hannah’s stories were too striking to be considered a mere coincidence. The birth dates of Hannah’s and Grayson’s moms available to Katie, taken by the hospital workers as part of standard procedures, were, as mentioned, only one day apart. Both Katie and her hired help began discussing the possibility that Hannah and Grayson could have come from the same biological mother.

It Was Time To Look For Their Biological Mother

Grayson and Hannah, however, did not resemble each other and thus Katie thought it was a surreal idea that they were related. But, the other similarities were just too striking and she couldn’t let go of the idea that somehow, they were brother and sister. Katie presented her caseworker with all her findings and asked for some more available information on Hannah’s biological parents. With every new piece of information, she was getting more suspicious and even her caseworker became interested in the story as well. That same week, Page took Hannah to a meeting set with her biological mother.

Are They, In Fact, Brother & Sister?

Although the meeting with Hannah’s biological mother did provide Katie with some further insight, she did not find out if that woman was indeed Grayson’s biological mother as well. Katie couldn’t just come up to her and ask. But later that day, the caseworker called Katie and told her that she was 90% convinced that it was really the case, that the children had the same biological mom. Not one whole hour later, another telephone call from the caseworker came and this time, she was 100% sure. The unsuspecting children, of course, had no idea what their foster mother had been up to.

Reunited

The caseworker called it a miracle and after some additional evidence she found, the question was answered. Katie cried at that moment. Hannah and Grayson later did a DNA test and the results sealed the matter completely. They were siblings! Page’s next logical move was to adopt Hannah as soon as possible, reuniting brother and sister in the same family again and, by the end of 2018, she succeeded in doing so. Grayson and Hannah, brother and sister, found each other and were now a part of the same family. Page now describes them as each other’s opposites – Grayson likes to chill while Hannah is a wild thing.

The One Final Twist In The Story

Katie later revealed how important it was for her to accept the kids and their turbulent background. She wanted them to now feel safe. However, the turbulence was not yet over, as Katie would soon find out. Page received word about something that would put a final twist in this story. There was another sibling…Hannah and Grayson had one more brother! With no hesitation, Katie Page, the hero of the story, took that baby boy in as well. Now, she is the proud mother of three kids, who are all siblings! How mind-blowing is that?!

As it turned out, the children’s biological mother had multiple other kids as well. But Katie could not take them all in since their adoption had already gone through and they lived with other families. At that point, it was likely that Katie was willing to do it. Nevertheless, this family of now four members had become a viral story on the web. Katie has since written about it on her website and social media accounts as she is thanking God for all the gifts given to her, as she says.

It Will Inspire You

Katie’s official Instagram account and blog site feature her entire inspiring story in detail, with photos of her beautiful kids. She is now making money from entrepreneurial projects and her story was covered in many of the major news and media channels. She’s managed to accomplish what she has set out to do some five years ago. Katie herself has said that she believes God doesn’t put anything in front of you that you can’t handle. So, her message is one of acceptance and virtue, and to fight for yourself and work like crazy to accomplish that which your heart desires; only then will you be happy.
