For most moms, losing weight after pregnancy can be more challenging than having a living human being inside their bodies for nine months. After childbirth, some mothers just want to have their pre-pregnancy bodies back as soon as possible, when in fact, the process of doing so takes time and patience.

Even though Hollywood celebs make losing post-baby weight seem easy, most of them will tell you that losing those extra pounds is hard work and requires focus, along with a healthy outlook and lifestyle. Learn more about what these stars did to attain their post-baby body in body positive ways!

Halle Berry – 35 Lbs

Halle Berry has always been a very active woman, so, when she got pregnant with her daughter, Nahla, she continued to do a few exercise routines up to when she was 7 ½ months into her pregnancy. After giving birth, the Hollywood star was able to have her red-carpet figure back within three and a half months.

To accomplish this, she went for hikes, jogged on the beach, did yoga, and any activity that would require her to move. She got the help of her trainer, Ramona Braganza, who says that any new mom can do what Halle did by scheduling exercise into their routine and making it a habit.

Jennifer Lopez – 40 Lbs

Looking at Jennifer Lopez now, you wouldn’t think that she had once carried twins in her petite body. The Latina mama didn’t exert much effort in the first four to five months after giving birth, but once she started, there was no stopping her from preparing for a triathlon and finishing its 4-mile track, half-mile swim, and an 18-mile bicycle race.

According to her longtime trainer, Gunnar Peterson, Jennifer Lopez was also eating healthily during this entire period, opting for more organic foods, as well as, whole grains. The takeaway from Lopez’s story is to set a goal, and stay focused until you achieve it!

Tori Spelling – 45 Lbs

Tori Spelling was always on the skinnier side, so when she had her first baby, at first, she didn’t know the specific measures to apply to her life. When she finally realized that dieting was the best move, NutriSystem, which provides prepackaged meals direct to your home, came to the rescue.

For moms who want to travel the same route as Spelling did, portion control and meal prep are key. Spelling lost 45 pounds by eating healthy foods and omitting carbs and sugar from her diet. This is achievable through preparing the meals beforehand since making rash decisions when it comes to eating often leads to unhealthy choices.

Mariah Carey – 70 Lbs

After carrying twins, Mariah Carey signed up as a spokeswoman for the Jenny Craig diet program which helped her lose a whopping 70 pounds six months after giving birth. Mariah shared with Shape magazine that she had to recuperate from a C-section and couldn’t exercise much at first.

Mariah then realized that 90 percent of her weight loss had to do with her eating habits. She said that 40 of the 70 pounds she lost was water weight, which was caused by water retention, otherwise known as edema, common in expecting mothers.

Jessica Alba – 35 Lbs

It is a well-known fact that Jessica Alba used a corset to get her pre-pregnancy figure back after having her two children. However, that wasn’t the only method she used to shed the extra 35 pounds. Jessica also hired Ramona Braganza as her trainer to help her accomplish her goal.

Jessica started off with 20-minute fitness routines, strengthening her core muscles before she proceeded to do longer sessions of fat-burning cardio activities like dance aerobics and kickboxing. She also stuck to eating 1,700 calories per day which anyone who’s driven enough can do.

Heidi Klum – 40 Lbs

Our jaws dropped when we saw Heidi Klum, walking down the runway of the 2005 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show; around 60 days after her son, Henry, was born. Thinking about it now, we shouldn’t even be this shocked since this German beauty was a model, so she knows how to get her body in shape.

However, we’re still curious cats, and so, we found out that she followed the extended version of The Ultimate New York Body Plan, a two-week program that involves working out daily for 1 ½ to 2 hours. She also followed the strict meal plan that was apart of this program, which ultimately led to her 40-pound weight loss.

Samantha Harris – 17 Lbs

During her pregnancy, Samantha Harris was all about eating healthy; following Christine Avanti’s nutrition program called Healthy Eating for the Expecting Mommy-to-Be. And so, she already had a head start to getting her trim and toned physique back.

After her daughter Josselyn was born, she continued with the program and partnered it with exercise routines, allowing her to lose the extra 17 pounds left behind by the pregnancy. We find it amazing how Harris managed to shed all those pounds while still eating every four hours to feel energized throughout the day!

Naomi Watts – Weight Loss Undisclosed

Since she didn’t have any immediate films or television projects to work on, Naomi Watts was able to approach losing her pregnancy weight in a relaxed and wholesome manner, without any pressure. According to her trainer Rob Parr, exercise was apart of Naomi’s daily routine.

Naomi mostly worked out in the pool, but when she wasn’t swimming, going for three to five-mile runs helped her attain her goal. She was consistent, which helped big time in her progress. Rob Parr also made Naomi eat fresh meals with no saturated fat, butter, or sauces.

Julia Roberts – 35 Lbs

With her second child on the way, Julia Roberts was plagued with anxiety brought on by the thought of having to lose weight. That’s according to her personal trainer named Kathy Kaehler. However, after she got back to her routine, Julia was able to get rid of 35 pounds from her post-pregnancy body.

It also helped that Kathy was adamant about Julia not starving herself, but instead, eating food that was fresh and giving her body the nutrients it needed to snap back. The trainer also suggested that Julia consume small meals throughout the day.

Milla Jovovich – 62 Lbs

The main reason Milla Jovovich gained so much weight during her pregnancy with her daughter, Ever, was that she craved so many delicious foods from peanut butter-and-jelly-smeared bagels to a juicy steak. What got her back in shape was the 5-Factor Diet plan.

The program, which involves eating five healthy meals per day and exercising five times per week for around 25 minutes each, was introduced to her by trainer Harley Pasternak. According to Pasternak, she urged Milla to be more active throughout her day, which is something that all new moms can follow.

Anne Hathaway – Weight Loss Undisclosed

We still remember when Anne Hathaway shared a snap of a pair of jeans she’d made into shorts on Instagram. It was a few months after her son Jonathan was born in 2016. She even said in the caption that there should never be shame in weight gain during pregnancy.

Besides, Anne is the kind of actress that will intentionally lose and gain weight for the different characters she plays, as she did for the 2012 film Les Misérables, having lost 25 pounds. So when she got a bit heavier after giving birth, she embraced it instead of rushing to shed the extra kilos.

Mariska Hargitay – 54 Lbs

Much like her tenacious character in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Mariska Hargitay was absolutely focused and prepared to get her pre-baby body back. She got the help of New York City trainer Jay Wright from Peak Performance gym and worked out up to three days a week for about 60 minutes.

As for her eating habits, Mariska consumed a great deal of fresh, organic vegetables and fruits. According to Wright, she cut out bread from her meals, since it is high in carbohydrates and has high sugar content. Too much bread can cause abrupt dips and spikes in blood sugar levels, which trigger cravings.

Beyoncé – 65 Lbs

When Beyoncé graced the cover of People magazine for their Most Beautiful People issue back in April 2012, everyone was shocked at how she quickly lost 65 pounds of her pregnancy weight. The reaction was natural since it had only been four months since her first child, Blue Ivy, was born.

Beyoncé praises breastfeeding for her weight loss, which she advocates that women do more as it is good for both the child and the mother. Today, she’s once again showing everyone how to trim down by introducing the 22 Days Nutrition program, which helped her lose weight after giving birth to her twins, Rumi and Sir Carter.

Chrissy Teigen – Weight Loss Undisclosed

One of Hollywood’s most outspoken stars is Chrissy Teigen, especially when the topic is all about her physique right after pregnancy. Since having two kids, Chrissy, the wife of John Legend, shared on Twitter that she’s happier at her present weight than when she was thinner.

Chrissy, who is also a chef and the author of two cookbooks, shared in an interview with Good Housekeeping that she had a hard time getting out of bed and eating back in January, and its why she has even lost a few pounds. Obviously, Chrissy is in no rush to slim down any time soon… And it’s A-Okay!

Bethenny Frankel – 29 Lbs

Bethenny Frankel was plastered in a few celebrity news outlets in June 2010 when she lost 29 pounds after just a few weeks of having her daughter, Bryn; born via C-section. Her baby was born five weeks prematurely and was only 4 pounds, 11 ounces at the moment of her birth.

Bethenny, who stars in The Real Housewives of New York City, gave a statement through a website called Momlogic. In it, she cited Bryn’s early advent along with healthy eating and yoga practices during her pregnancy as the reason behind her ability to quickly lose weight.

Pink – 55 Lbs

In June 2011, Pink gave birth to a healthy girl named Willow Sage. In that same year, she also regained her six-pack abs as well as her toned legs. Pink trained up to five days per week and adopted a healthy lifestyle as groundwork for her concert tour and her first film role in Thanks for Sharing.

The celebrity trainer she worked with was Jeanette Jenkins, the maker of the DVD series called The Hollywood Trainer, who also aided Alicia Keys in getting her former physique back. According to her, Pink began training as soon as the physician gave them the green light.

Gwyneth Paltrow – 40 Lbs

As Gwyneth Paltrow shared with the Huffington Post in 2010, by far the most difficult thing she’s ever done was get rid of the baby weight after giving birth to her second child in 2006. She allotted two hours every day to exercise with the aid of celebrity coach Tracy Anderson.

Miranda Kerr – 40 Lbs

Miranda Kerr gave birth to her first child in January 2012 and after that, she was already fit enough to get back on the runway. In fact, she strutted down the catwalk in Paris Fashion Week two months after her son Flynn was born!

The Australian model estimated that she had gained between 30 and 40 pounds of weight. She lost those extra pounds fast, through yoga, healthy eating, and breastfeeding. What’s remarkable is that Flynn, whose father is Orlando Bloom, weighed in at just about 10 pounds when he came out of his mother’s womb!

Victoria Beckham – 21 Lbs

In July 2011, Victoria Beckham welcomed a daughter with her husband David Beckham. They named her Harper. The Daily Mail reported that Victoria had followed the Five Hands Diet, which involved consuming only five handfuls of food per day, to trim down for the upcoming New York Fashion Week.

Months later, Victoria, who is a fashion designer and former Spice Girl stated that she lost all the pregnancy pounds by running up to six days every week. She also shared that she followed an exercise routine created by her trainer, Tracy Anderson.

Holly Willoughby – Weight Loss Undisclosed

Holly Willoughby had become strikingly slimmer in the past couple of years, following the delivery of her third child in September 2014. However, Holly herself has never really talked about her weight loss plan or anything in relation. She confessed that she’s concerned about other ladies feeling pressured to emulate her in shedding some weight.

Holly further elaborated that every woman has to look in her own mirror and intuitively decide what it is that will make her feel great about herself as well as her body. According to Holly, that’s all that she did. You do you, Willoughby!

Kelly Preston – 42 Lbs

After giving birth in November 2010, Kelly Preston was able to lose 42 pounds, 14 months later. The Hollywood beauty said that she got anxious about her weight after leaving the hospital because she looked just as heavy as when she got in.

Kelly also shared with People in 2012 that she had no idea what her body was going to do and didn’t know if it would bounce back. After taking a year off from acting, Preston dedicated her time to working out, using Organic Liaison, Kirstie Alley’s weight-loss program. And finally, she lost all the excess weight!

Jennifer Garner – 30 Lbs

When her second daughter was born in 2009, Jennifer Garner became one of those famous Hollywood moms who took their time to lose their pregnancy weight. However, after giving birth to her first son in 2012, she shocked everyone at her first postpartum red-carpet appearance.

It was at CinemaCon in Las Vegas and was only two months after her delivery. In 2018, while she was on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to co-host on Mother’s Day, she told new mothers what they needed to hear the most; that they would get their bodies back as well as their lives.

Alessandra Ambrosio – 45 Lbs

For someone who works in the modeling industry, which requires her to possess a certain size and weight, Alessandra Ambrosio had to quickly lose up to 45 pounds in only three months after giving birth. She did it to prepare for the 2008 Victoria’s Secret fashion show.

Alessandra exercised two to three hours daily while either her mom or her sister took care of her newborn. Aside from this, she also ate tiny portions of food. Instead of eating white rice she opted for the brown variant and ate a lot of salads as well. Now that’s dedication!

Mila Kunis – 25 Lbs

Hollywood actress Mila Kunis regained her fit figure after giving birth to her daughter, Wyatt Isabella, in 2014. She was able to shoo away the excess weight that she gained from her pregnancy by hiking. Aside from that, breastfeeding was also a big contributor to her weight loss.

Yes, Kunis didn’t even go to the gym or restrict her food intake with a stringent meal plan to lose the 25 pounds she had gained. As Mila shared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, she hiked almost every day with her daughter strapped to her during those days.

Kim Kardashian West – 70 Lbs

Kim Kardashian West had been very public about her diet and weight loss journey after her son, Saint, was born in 2016. According to her interview with People, she had the Atkins 40 plan as her guide to complement her intense exercise routines which led her to eat about 1,800 calories per day.

Kim once posted about how jealous she was of women who were expecting a child but somehow looked just like they did before their pregnancy. In that post, Kim also wrote that it is still significant for her to remain body positive for the sake of her daughter North.

Kate Winslet – Weight Loss Undisclosed

In 2008, Kate Winslet gave an interview for the Daily Mail. There she revealed, that being a mother of two, one imperfection of hers is her crumbled baby belly. However, she went on to say that she’s proud of her imperfections.

After giving birth again in 2014, Kate spoke to E! about her body being very soft. In fact, when she spoke about the filming of Divergent, she expressed that getting into the movie costume was a bit of a challenge since she just had a baby and it didn’t feel quite right. 

 

Rochelle Humes – Weight Loss Undisclosed

Rochelle Humes got her pre-pregnancy physique back after giving birth to her second daughter, Valentina, in just a few months. When she spoke with Fit & Well magazine, Humes explained that she did it through exercise and a healthy diet.

According to Humes, there’s really no secret to losing weight; one just has to stick to it because it’s a lifestyle. Rochelle also added that if someone remains fit and is looking after themselves then they’re doing it right. Plus, it’s great that after all her hard work, she still has the curves that she’s known for!

Kate Hudson – 25 Lbs

Two months after welcoming her daughter, Rani Rose, into this world, Kate Hudson shared a picture of her post-pregnancy figure. She shared that she was then on a mission to regain her fighting weight back along with her strong body, working on her general well-being.

Explaining the motive behind her eagerness to get back in shape, Hudson revealed she was about to film a new movie, so she was looking to shed 25 pounds. She did just that while maintaining her milk production and devoting time to her family, making it look so easy!

 

Amy Adams – Weight Loss Undisclosed

In 2010, Amy Adams had a daughter who she named Aviana Olea Le Gallo. During her pregnancy, she revealed in a talk with Parade that she got to understand her real relationship with her body, signifying that it wasn’t placed in this world just to look awesome in a swimsuit.

Amy also shared that she worked out when she could and tried to pay attention to her nutritional needs, but losing weight wasn’t her priority. However, she did know that it was part of her job to have some semblance to how she looked before, even though her career isn’t built on her outward appearance.

Meghan Markle – Weight Loss Undisclosed

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry became parents for the first time after their son, Archie, was born in May 2019. It’s only been around three months since they welcomed the new member of their family, and so, Duchess Meghan is still taking her time to lose the weight she gained from having a child.

Scientifically speaking, weight gain of about 30-35 pounds during pregnancy is quite normal. Not losing it all in a short amount of time is normal as well. At this point, Meghan is still breastfeeding which could be helping her shed the extra pounds since the calorie demands of milk production will increase as her young one grows.

Serena Williams – 55 Lbs

We’re amazed at how Serena Williams managed to lose all her pregnancy weight! However, our jaws dropped when we found out that she lost ten pounds of excess weight from her usual 155 pounds. At her heaviest, the tennis champion weighed around 200 pounds, but since February 2019, she had gotten down to 145 pounds.

Williams is perceived as history’s greatest female tennis player and she has bagged the second-most singles titles (23) of all time when it comes to women’s Grand Slam tournaments. From a tennis standpoint, she and her trainers believe that being slimmer is the way to go to achieve more gold medals.

Khloe Kardashian – 40 Lbs

In July 2019, Khloé  Kardashian got very honest about her weight loss journey in an interview hosted by her mom, Kris Jenner. In the eye-opening dialogue, Khloe revealed that she weighed around 203 pounds at one point during her pregnancy.

The 40 pounds that she gained quickly left the building after Khloé was given clearance by her doctor to start working out. Although she felt winded when she first got back to working out, Khloé was eventually able to achieve her end goal. In 2017, she premiered her TV show, Revenge Body with Khloé Kardashian.
