Germany

It is no secret that Germany is a country steeped in history and culture. It is home to many different peoples and their traditions, as well as breathtaking landscapes. Also, one of the best football teams in the world calls this place home.

The German national football team is among the top-tier in the world, and the team’s many devoted fans regularly attend matches to cheer them on, often donning elaborate face paint and waving the country’s flag. This German supporter, for instance, drew a lot of attention when attending the 2010 World Cup match between Germany and Australia in Durban.

Poland

The history of the Polish national team is littered with both triumphs and defeats. Since making its debut in 1938, the team has appeared in seven different tournaments. Between 1970 and 1986, Poland was at its peak, during which time it won the gold medal at the 1972 Summer Olympics and placed in the top three at two World Cups.

Although they haven’t been as successful as they once were, their fanbase is unwavering. We can safely assume that the sight of such stunning women at the 2018 World Cup more than made up for the team’s lackluster play, as evidenced by this photograph of a female fan.

Portugal

Portugal, one of the teams competing in the 2022 World Cup, has an exceptionally talented lineup due to its consistent production over many years. Portugal has now qualified for the World Cup eight times, including in Qatar in 2022, but they have yet to take home the tournament’s top prize.

Nonetheless, as this photo shows, they have an A+ fanbase. Their fans are fiercely devoted and willing to travel long distances to see the show in person. Fans like Carlos Brum and Pedro Lobotomy, who traveled over ten thousand kilometers from Lisbon to Moscow, Russia, to root for the Portuguese national team, are prime examples.

South Africa

South Africa is undeniably one of the world’s loveliest nations and its natural beauty is a major draw for tourists from all over the world. South Africa is not only the world’s leading producer of macadamia nuts and fruits but also home to some of the world’s most stunningly attractive women, like this one, who can often be seen cheering for their national soccer team called the Bafana Bafana in international competitions. Although the country had a long break from international competition and didn’t start again until 1992, it holds the title as the first African country to host the World Cup.

Australia

Australia has qualified for a large number of international championships in recent years. They always bring something new and exciting to the field in their bright yellow and green uniforms, making them a World Cup classic. Their World Cup history is brief, however, as they didn’t begin qualifying until 1966.

Once they made their World Cup debut in Germany in 1974, they had to wait until 2006 to make another appearance. Since then, the Socceroos have not only participated in the tournament but also accrued a dedicated throng of supporters. Their energetic fanbase is something we looked forward to when they qualified for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Italy

There is a distinct and devoted following for soccer in Italy, the land of Serie A and the world-famous Azzuri. If you think about Italians’ love for great wine and food and then apply that to football, you might get close to understanding what the game means to them.

It’s not shocking that they have such a strong love for the game, given that they are one of the most accomplished teams in World Cup history. The Italian national team has been supported by their fans to four FIFA World Cup victories, however, they did not make it to the 2022 event in Qatar.

Netherlands

Although the Netherlands is famous for its tulips, windmills, canals, clogs, and coffee shops, there is so much more to this great country. The country is also well known for the height of its male population, some of whom play for the country’s outstanding national soccer team as well as its colorful supporters.

The Dutch national soccer team consistently ranks among the world’s best, earning a reputation for success on the field. They are one of the top ten countries in the world and have done exceptionally well in past FIFA World Cup competitions. Although they’ve made it to the finals three times, they’ve never been able to bring home the prize.

USA

The United States men’s national soccer team has participated in 10 of the 21 World Cups, however, they were ineligible for every World Cup from 1950 and 1990. However, this has never stopped the team’s passionate fans from showing up and cheering loudly and proudly for their favorite team in their colorful get-ups.

The team failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, but after securing a spot in the 2022 event, fans of the United States men’s national soccer team turned out en masse and traveled more than 9,000 kilometers to Qatar to support their team at the World Cup.

Costa Rica

There’s no mistaking that Costa Rica is a happy nation from the excitement and energy of its fans at World Cup games. We’re willing to wager that the team’s reputation as one of Central America’s most successful national soccer teams contributes to the enthusiastic cheering of the fans. Just like this woman captured in the stands, we’d proudly cheer for them.

The team debuted at the 1990 FIFA World Cup, qualified again in 2002, and has never missed an edition since then with the exception of 2010. Despite its lack of World Cup success, Costa Rica has become the dominant force in Central American soccer.

Switzerland

There are many things that people associate Switzerland with: Swiss chocolate, neutrality during wartime, and the breathtaking Swiss Alps. With no bad times of the year and a plethora of charming towns to discover, this is one of the world’s most secure destinations. It’s a land bursting at the seams with breathtaking cliffs, mountains, waterfalls, picturesque towns, clean air, wandering dairy cows, and prosperous locals.

When it comes to the FIFA World Cup, Switzerland is also a major player. They’ve played in 12 events so far, with three trips to the quarterfinals, thanks in large part to the encouragement of their ardent fan base.

Mexico

Mexico is one of just six countries to have qualified for every single World Cup since it began in 1994. Twice, in 1970 and 1986, they played host to the World Cup, and those were the years they fared best, reaching the tournament’s quarterfinals both times.

Despite El Tri not being one of the top teams in the world, they have always been a symbol of the country’s best and brightest. It’s not surprising that it has gained devoted followers who are willing to sacrifice everything for it. The fact that the supporters are usually quite attractive doesn’t hurt, either.

Argentina

The national team of Argentina is widely considered to be among the finest and most successful in soccer’s long history. The Argentine men’s national soccer team has been ranked number one in the world by FIFA for the past six consecutive years.

Considering the roster includes seven-time Ballon d’Or winner and team captain Lionel Messi, there is never a shortage of scoring opportunities for the national team of this nation. The team’s recent extraordinary success has won them fans all over the globe. This lady was one of the tens of thousands of cheering spectators at one of the games.

Serbia

When we think of Serbia, what comes to mind are scientists, farmers, musicians, and chefs. This Balkan nation is magnificent and one-of-a-kind because of the many cultures that have shaped it. Apart from being the world’s second-largest exporter of raspberries, the country is well-known for its attractive women, as evidenced by this photo from their national soccer team match.

Since 1930, Serbia has been represented at the World Cup, first as a part of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia and later as a part of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and Montenegro. However, they have been competing as an independent nation since 2006.

Russia

Since regaining its independence from the Soviet Union in  1991, Russia has participated in four FIFA World Cups. The 2018 FIFA World Cup was hosted by the country, so automatically qualified them for the tournament. As the tournament’s host, Russia played admirably and advanced to the knockout round by cruising through the group stage. There, they shocked the world by defeating Spain in a penalty shootout and advancing to the quarterfinals. Unfortunately, they were knocked out of the tournament after a loss to Croatia in penalty kicks. However, due to the invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops, the team was unfortunately kicked out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Belgium

Belgium is well-known for its many varieties of chocolates, french fries, and beers. Of course, there’s more to Belgium than that. The Red Devils Association, the Belgian national soccer team, calls it home as well. Belgium has made 14 total appearances in the FIFA World Cup finals competition, beginning with the inaugural tournament in 1930, where they ended in 11th place and played the inaugural World Cup match against the United States. To date, the 2018 World Cup in Russia is the best World Cup performance by the team. In addition to a talented group of soccer players, they also have a strong fan base.

Russia

There is no way to know if Russia would have qualified for the 2022 World Cup. Both FIFA and UEFA, the international and European soccer governing bodies, banned them from participating in the qualifying rounds.

Their fans were able to hoist their flags proudly and cheer their team at the 2018 event, but they are now relegated to the stands. After being disqualified from the tournament, the Russian team is limited to playing friendly matches against the select group of countries that have accepted their invitations. The Russian men’s national team won its only match in 2022 beating Kyrgyzstan 2-1 in September.

Paraguay

Paraguay may be a small country in the middle of South America, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have a deep and interesting heritage. Paraguay is often referred to as “the heart of America,” and their national soccer team, the “Guaraníes,” is one of the original 13 teams to compete in the first World Cup in 1930.

Although they reached the tournament’s semifinals in 2010, they haven’t been back since, making just eight total appearances. They haven’t been seen much at the FIFA World Cup, but to the delight of their loyal supporters, they’ve been regulars in the Copa América and have won it twice.

Denmark

The passionate support shown by the Danish fans at every international match is sufficient evidence that this country deserves its reputation as the happiest in the world. The Danish squad has all the makings of a winner, what with the talent of its players and the fervent support of its fans.

In 1986, Denmark qualified for their first World Cup, and they went on to win all three of their group stage matches, including a 2-0 triumph over eventual champion West Germany. Since then, they have reached the FIFA World Cup finals every four years, with Qatar 2022 being their sixth consecutive appearance.

Chile

For the record, Chile has made it to the finals of the FIFA World Cup nine times. In 1962, when the tournament was held in their home country, they had their best showing, placing third. The decision to hold the 7th World Cup in Chile came as a surprise to many.

Since it was South America’s turn, one might have expected Argentina to be nominated, but political instability there led to Chile’s selection instead. In one of the most scandalous games in World Cup history, Chile’s match against Italy in 1962, dubbed “La batalla de Santiago,” featured a tense fight scene.

England

England’s national team is one of the two oldest in the world, along with Scotland’s, having been founded at the same time. England has a rich tradition in football, but they skipped out on the inaugural FIFA World Cup in Uruguay back in 1930. They have, however, been participating in the tournament since 1950, with only three instances of non-qualification.

They had their best tournament ever in 1966 when they won the cup in England by beating West Germany 4-2 in the final. They are well-known for their top-notch athletes as well as their rich tradition of fan support that dates back many years as seen in this photo.

Japan

Japan has already made it to the World Cup finals six times after losing in 1998. The Japanese national football team was assigned to Group E at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, along with Germany, Costa Rica, and Spain. The team has achieved some notable milestones at the international level. One of which was defeating a South American team in the World Cup for the first time ever by an Asian team.

There were a lot of enthusiastic Japanese fans at the 2018 match, including this girl who proudly sports a bold blue outfit. Another way they stood out was by cleaning up the stadium even after they lost.

Saudi Arabia

Until 1951, the Saudi royal family strictly forbade citizens from playing football, hence the country was late to the global game. Saudi Arabia qualified for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, making their sixth World Cup appearance overall.

For the country, making it to the round of sixteen in 1994 was a major accomplishment. In the 2022 tournament, the Saudi Arabian team pulled off one of the biggest upsets in World Cup history by shocking tournament favorites Argentina, 2-1, in their opening game. The players were undoubtedly energized by the cheers of their enthusiastic fans like the ones depicted here.

Senegal

Though they have only qualified for the finals twice before, Senegal’s World Cup history is rich and fascinating. In 2002, they made it all the way to the quarterfinals by pulling off one of the biggest shocks ever by defeating the presumptive reigning champions France.

While their team may have underperformed at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, their devoted fans more than made up for it with loud cheers and, like Japanese fans, a commitment to keeping the stadium clean. Since then, the team’s FIFA ranking has risen from 23rd to 18th, making them the highest-ranked African team in the competition.

Colombia

Colombia, consistently a top-10 happy nation, was missed by many in Qatar. Their energetic performance and the colorful display of their fan base is something we’ve missed. Beautiful people like the girl in this picture, along with other football fans from the country, would have to settle for watching the event on TV.

There have been six World Cups in which the squad has competed. One of the best performances at the 2018 World Cup was their 3-0 thrashing of Poland. With talents like Luis Diaz, Radamel Falcao, and Rafael Borre, it is shocking that they went seven straight qualifying matches without scoring.

Egypt

The Egyptian national soccer team will almost certainly be considered one of the best in Africa. Perhaps most shocking is the fact that they have yet to win a match at the World Cup, having settled for two draws and five losses. They had only entered the tournament three times before: in 1934, 1990, and 2018.

Even though they didn’t qualify for Qatar 2022, these photos will give their fans something to remember them by. We can only hope that they make it to the tournament in 2026. With their qualifying performance in 1990, they established a new record for the longest gap between World Cup berths.

Poland

The Polish team secured their qualification for the 2022 FIFA World Cup with a 2-0 victory over Sweden in a playoff match. This was Poland’s first victory over a Scandinavian team in more than 30 years. The team has qualified for the World Cup on eight separate occasions, finishing in third place in 1978 and 1982.

Despite a victory over Japan, the team was ousted from the 2018 World Cup after suffering losses to Senegal and Colombia. The fervor of the Polish fans, whom The Daily Telegraph called “the wildest fans to grace the 2018 World Cup,” is one aspect of the team that won’t easily be forgotten.

Ecuador

In particular, the Galapagos Islands and the extraordinary wildlife that lives there have brought fame and attention to Ecuador. Aside from that, there’s a lot more to fall in love with, though. One of them is their amazing and gorgeous fans, and another is their formidable women’s soccer team. Their soccer players are incredibly skilled and dedicated, and their fans are just as passionate and dedicated to the cause.

The Ecuadorian national football team has qualified for four consecutive FIFA World Cups, the pinnacle of international football competition. They qualified for the tournament for the first time in 2002 and advanced as far as the round of 16 in 2006.

Croatia

Prior to the formation of the modern Croatia team in 1990, many players from the region had competed for Yugoslavia. Since Euro 1996, when they were first allowed to join FIFA, they have regularly participated in international competitions. At the 1998 FIFA World Cup, Davor Suker, a striker for Croatia, finished as the game’s top scorer.

Only in 2010 and 2000 did they fail to qualify for the World Cup or the European Championship. Given their performance at the 2018 World Cup, it’s not surprising that they have a devoted fan base, which includes attractive women like the one pictured above.

Slovakia

Slovakia is a country in central Europe that is well-known for its beautiful scenery and abundance of castles. The country is home to hundreds of caverns in addition to its well-known national parks, folk art, and trekking routes.

It is one of the youngest national soccer teams in the world, having formed in 1993 after the dissolution of Czechoslovakia. Once, in 2010, they made it to the finals of the FIFA World Cup and advanced to the second round. We were hoping to see more of their incredible fans at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, but they didn’t qualify.

Algeria

Without a doubt, Algeria is one of the most welcoming and interesting nations in all of North Africa. There’s a lot to appreciate, from the huge Sahara and beautiful coastline to the enormous variety of historical and cultural attractions. Algerians, like people all across the world, get to show their support for their country by attending soccer games and cheering for the national team.

A total of four times, Algeria has reached the FIFA World Cup finals. In 2014, they made it to the round of 16, but ultimately lost to Germany and were eliminated. The 2014 season marked the club’s first appearance in the round of 16.

Iran

Iran has qualified for the FIFA World Cup six times. However, they have never advanced out of the group stage, winning only three games. Supporters of the team, like those of any other country, have their own distinct identities, especially when it comes to their elaborate and often dazzling parades.

This fan has some amazing face paint going on, and she’s also wearing a shirt with the number 10 stitched on it. Former members of Iran’s 2021 national soccer team Sardar Azmoun and Karim Ansarifard wore this jersey number. The fan’s costume is admirable and should be praised, yet it is illegal in Iran due to its perceived immodesty.

France

Many countries’ teams do, in fact, sport white, red, and blue jerseys, but France is the only one recognized and respected. Les Bleus, the French national soccer team, has a rich and storied past, having won several tournaments.

With stars like PSG’s Kylian Mbappé and others on the team, France had a shot at winning the 2022 World Cup. With energetic fans like this colorful woman cheering them to victory, there’s enough motivation for the team to keep scoring goals. Do you know that a Frenchman scored the first-ever World Cup goal? French forward Lucien Laurent scored the inaugural goal at the 1930 FIFA World Cup.

South Korea

South Koreans love to watch and engage in a wide variety of sports, not just Taekwondo, which is the country’s official national sport. The two most popular sports in the country, however, have always been baseball and football. It’s, therefore, not surprising that more people in the country root for soccer than other sports.

As of November 2022, they are perhaps the most successful and awarded football team in Asia. The first time the national team appeared in the World Cup was in 1954, and ever since 1986, they have made it to the tournament. In 2002, they had their best finish ever, making it all the way to the semi-finals.

Uruguay

Uruguay was the first global soccer superpower. In addition to their 1930 and 1950 World Cup victories, the Charrua also won two Olympic titles in the era when that competition was not yet considered a major honor by FIFA.

The country, however, has declined since those heydays.

A comeback to the top level was marked by an appearance in the semi-finals in 2010; and to this day, they are by far the smallest country to have won the Jules Rimet Trophy. The team has one of the most passionate fan bases, and their dedication to the national team is on full display at every tournament.

Ghana

When it comes to African football, Ghana’s Black Stars have been a mainstay for decades, but it wasn’t until recently that they made an impact on the global stage. The 2006 FIFA World Cup was Ghana’s first-ever at the finals after the country qualified for the tournament for the tenth time.

They’ve never advanced further than the quarterfinals at a World Cup before. Despite peaking at #14 in FIFA’s world rankings in 2008, the Black Stars are currently in the 61st position as of November 2022. Still, you can count on their fans, like these ones, to be loudly cheering them on from the stands.

Brazil

From every angle, Brazil emerges as the greatest World Cup team of all time. Brazil is the only country to have qualified for every World Cup since the competition’s inception in Uruguay in 1930. This is hardly a surprise, considering their consistent level of success.

The vibrant crowds of Brazilian fans at international matches attest to the country’s reputation as a mecca for soccer fans around the globe. They are not just extremely devoted to soccer, but also have one of the ‘s greatest national teams. They hold the record for the most FIFA World Cup victories with five.
